Words Have Power

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see and point out all your flaws and notice new ones? If you see everything wrong with you, and point out those negative traits, in essence you’re calling attention to them for others to notice as well. Negative comments make a lasting impact. Words are powerful and your voice has the ability to bring positive or negative into your life. Our greatest source of suffering is the lies we tell ourselves. If we are made in the image of God, we are insulting the creator as we are insulting his creation. When you want to get down on yourself, combat your words with truth and the power of the word. (Psalms 139:14 - I will give thanks unto You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: wonderful are Your works, and that, my soul knows right well.)
Language begins in the mind. When we change the quality of the words we use we change the quality of the image of ourselves we have inside. Words change our minds. When our minds are changed, we live by the power of the words handed to us. Who is handing the words to us? Do we agree with the words man says to us or do we agree with the words God has spoken to us? (John 10:10 - A thief does not come, except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they might have life, and they might have that which is abundant.) We can reject words spoken to us or combat them with truth. We have to be diligent in rejecting negative or even unnecessary commentary and thoughts. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
We have to become wordsmiths. Our minds are organized verbally. Never underestimate the power of words. Do you want to build or destroy? Do you want to repel or attract? Life and death are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that indulge it shall eat the fruit thereof.) Taste your words before you spit them out. Are they bitter or are they sweet? If you aren’t speaking kindly and truthfully to yourself, you won’t speak kindly and truthfully to others. The words spoken can have lasting effects through generations. If you are down on yourself, it could have come from prior generations. You have the power to bless or curse future generations by the words you speak. Generational curses remain until one stands against them and says no more. This is where this ends. One must decide to be light and shine bright. (John 1:5 And the Light brought light into the darkness, and the darkness did not over take it.)
